Retro sweet of the week

With the long weekend just around the corner (yay!), this week we thought we’d offer you a little retro gift that would make the perfect Easter treat!

One of the newest items over at chewbz.com, we’ve become a little obsessed with these since they arrived at our retro sweet warehouse.

Sweet Shop

Yep, this week you could WIN one of these adorable Sweet Shop Selection Boxes! How cool are these?!

Each one comes stuffed with a Sherbet Fountain, Dip Dab, Flump, Black Jacks and Fruit Salads, Dolly Mixtures plus loads more. The best thing about these though, is that they also contain paper money, coins and even a paper debit card!

So you could set up shop at your desk and sell to your sweetest colleagues, or put a sugary smile on the whole family’s face this Easter.

Fancy getting your sticky fingers on one of these?
To be in with the chance of winning, leave a comment on this post and let us know what you would do with your little sweet shop. Would you set up shop or give one away as an extra sweet Easter treat?

The competition will close at 9am next Monday, the 2nd April. Our favourite comment wins (as voted by Chewz HQ).

Best of luck retro sweet fans!

***WINNERS***

Wow, all your comments were great this week!
Each one made us smile loads and loads :).

We finally managed to choose two winners though, and our absolute favourite comments came from…

Sarah-Jane Laycock and Jade.

Congratulations guys, both your mini sweetshop’s were sent with our Postie yesterday. Enjoy setting up shop!

i would give it to my neice as she loves to play shop and she loves sweets but im sure she will charge us all real money to get any of the sweets lol:-) great giveaway

  2. sharon griffin says:

my niece would be over the moon if i won this for her. She is always pretending to be a shop keeper and she usually clears out her mums food cupboard to stock up her pop up shop in the living room. I have to go round buying baked beans and potatoes and squashed loaves of bread off of her, until her mum decides she needs the food back in time for tea :). the sweet shop would be a lot more fun though x

  3. Lesley Facey says:

I would set up shop in my living room and play with my grandchildren…..but they would have to take turns in being the customers as I would want a chance to have some

  4. Izzy Wayman says:

i would set up shop on my birthday and share them out if no one bought some and give some away to my good friends x

  5. Jo Turner says:

Sad as it may sound, I’d actually set up shop and make my hubby be the customer! I always wanted a toy sweet shop as a kid, but mum always felt they were a waste of money so i had to make do with using old cereal boxes etc to play shop with (not a sweetie in sight)! I’ll be 40 later this you, so give me a chance to be a big kid again, before I hit another of those milestones at which everyone expects you to have ‘grown up’ – not that that will ever happen!!!

  6. Maryam says:

I have family staying with me for the Easter holidays! We could all go nuts after giving it all up for Lent!

  7. Kevin Hutton says:

I would give it the Scottish Spina Bifida Association’s family support centre in Cumbernauld. I’m an adult user of the charity, but I’m sure the kiddies would like playing with it. :o)

  8. Caroline stannard says:

As I’m 30 on 1st if I would win these yummy box of retro sweets I would share them with my children and treat them to the original classic from my childhood !

  9. Maddy Seamark says:

When I was little I used to sit at a bench in the garden and sell
sweets to my family. Dolly Mixtures etc… These are the
Expensive sweets that they don’t sell at the shop at the top of the road. My mum hardly ever
Eats sweets and she loves dolly mixtures so I think
that huge bag would do her good!

  10. sarah clarkson says:

Well I think if I won this amazing little shop I would have to keep it and then on easter sunday I would open the shop and give the money to my kids n hubby and let themcome and buy their favourite sweeties. Of course perks of the job would be that I could have a taster aswell.

  11. kelly o'neill says:

My son would love this so much. He’s just come down with chicken pox but by the time he receives these he’ll be well enough to eat them!

  12. kirstine meredith says:

I would give it to my sons pre school this is his last term there before he starts primary school and I know the kiddies would love a treat 🙂 Chewbz the kiddies would love this. To play shop keepers would be fab and a sweet treat or two would keep the kiddies smiling 🙂

  13. Riz Akhoonjee says:

    ITS MINE!! ALL MINE!!! Hehe

ofcourse id share the sweeties with the family…..what better way to say I love u and happy easter than to sit around the table with a big box of old skool sweets and remember the good old ays when sweets use to be proper sweets!! Its all about showing the kids what they missed out on by sharing the old skool sweeties!! ;p

Good old fashioned trip down confectionary lane….Happy Easter People!! 🙂

  14. natalie castledine says:

its my eldest son Brandons 9th birthday on fri 30th and the retro sweet shop would make his day!
im thinking i could educate him on sweets of my childhood!!!
    ( yum yum !)

  15. Catherine beckett says:

I would give it to my twin boys as they love playing shop, and it would give them a good lesson in sharing, but on the understanding I will be the customer :-@

  16. Kathryn Casbolt says:

Massive memories of the sweets that I enjoyed as a child. These would make a brilliant alternative to chocolate at Easter. my kids would love them and, if I am honest, mum would really love to receive this gift too 😉

  17. MARK THOMAS says:

I would give the sweet shop to my sister as it reminds me of our times together as children , when we would spend our pocket money on sweets . So nostalgic !

  18. emma says:

i would actually set up shop and have my five children and two step children as my customers!! we always love to role play but with the sweet shop we would have extra tasty fun! i used to have a little sweet shop that was in the style of pete beales fruit stall from eastenders when i was about 8 or 9 talking 20 years ago lol but i loved it!!

  19. Jean Bolsover says:

I’d give it to my mum for easter. She has asked me not to buy her chocolate for easter as she is trying to lose a bit of weight, but, hey, these are sweets!

  20. Rebecca Coyne says:

If I won the retro sweet shop I’d give it to my neice for her birthday. I’m sure to be favourite Aunty Becks when she sees all those sweets and the chance for her to use her imagination is never wasted. She loves making up stories and games so would be in her element running a sweetshop….I’d have to join in of course. I always wanted a sweet shop of my own when I was little

  21. keren mary curran says:

i would set up a shop for my nieces and nephews to keep them entertained through easter

  22. Michael Ward says:

    wow, great idea, really unique!
my girlfriend has to look after her little sister over the easter holidays, so would be a great way to keep her amused (and her little sister… ok that joke was a bit cheesy).
Also all the chocolate at easter can become a bit sickly after a while, so something sweet really breaks it up a bit, and there’s definitely enough variety in there!
Owning the shop though anything I eat has to come out my wages…. that’s a tricky one!

  23. KIERAN WALSH says:

Great gran daughter Lily Mai, cant give special reason, just the joy she would get from it, thanks for comp, good luck all

  24. caroline kremmos says:

i would give it to my daughters school so they can learn how to make purchases and the value of money whilst having fun

  25. Gary Mills says:

I would give it to the 11yr old girl I currently foster who selflessly donated all her pocket money to charity this weekend – As they say, one good turn deserves another!

  26. Sarah-Jane Laycock says:

I would not only set up shop but post a ‘CLOSED DUE TO UNFORESEEN CIRCUMSTANCES’ on the door – just enough time to bag the favourites!

  27. ally says:

Fab idea! Would make it a special gift from the ‘Easter Bunny’ – i would imagine i’d get at least one quiet afternoon while my children played with this..;)

  28. Adelaida Shuman says:

I’m not generally one to leave comments but have you considered downloading SEOPressor to boost your on-site Seo?Your weblog looks like it could use some help getting up the search engine rankings. You should check it out here:SEOPressor

  29. George Spedding says:

I would give this to my granddaughter, replay shop but she never gives me any sweets

  30. Jade says:

This is a great completion 🙂

I remember when I was younger building my own sweet shop out of shoe boxes, Painting it and taping it all up, I was so proud of it. With my pocket money a £1 maybe £2 (if I was lucky) I’d go out get some sweets and try and fill it up, it didn’t stay that way for long though haha. I imagined that my homemade sweet shop would turn out to be quite an establishment, almost like the shop on the tv show open all hours!! I think I ended up making a till too 🙂 If I was lucky enough to win this, I’d share it between my family and store a few in a hiding place for a rainy day! 😉

  31. Lisa James says:

I would share the sweets with my partner as my 8 month old son wouldnt be able to have them. Would sit and eat them and keep saying ” wow remember these” or ” still tastes as good”

  32. fiona waterworth says:

Blimey now I feel old I had sweet shops when I was little, so I would have to play with my grandchildren, like my grandparents did with me 40 years ago

  33. Helen Stratton says:

I would use it to bribe the kids to be good for the duration of the Easter Holidays!!!

  34. sarah roberts says:

I would actually take this to work and share it out so everyone can re live their child hood 🙂

  35. kathleen hooper says:

I would give it to my niece for easter: She likes sweets, she likes to play shop… sorted!

  36. mark pinnock says:

I would eat eat eat lol. I dont think i could share my sweet shop with anyone hahaha.
Im a sweetaholic so tough to those who wanna share wahahahahahaha.
I would make a shop at home but charge visitors lol.

nahh. I would have a family meet up and have a big sweet fest in my living room. With tea and bicuits too

  37. Stephanie Buckridan says:

I would set up shop for my nieces and nephews (but I might take out the best stuff first!)

I would share it with my many nieces and nephews when they all come over at Easter 🙂

  39. lorraine polley says:

i would give this to my grandson, he’s an only child, and he needs to learn to SHARE!!!!!!!!!!!

  40. Fran Light says:

I have a six year old niece. I don’t get to see her very often, but we’re going to visit them next month and this would make a great ‘visiting present’ – she’d love it!!

  41. Si Jackson says:

i would have a party for my sisters 9th birthday and i would use these to make a treasure hunt for her and her friends or maybe pass the parcel, obviously id be there to supervise too 😉

  42. helen watson says:

Id take it to my brownie group they’d love to have them as prizes on a bingo night!

  43. Lauren Main says:

I would give it away as an extra Easter gift to my sweet-toothed little brother 🙂 x

  44. Kristy Brown says:

    If the little sweet shop
    Came to me
    I’d shove the kids
    from upon my knee,
    like a naughty child
    I’d hide away
    And eat them on
    A rainy day
    My kids wouldn’t know
    I wouldn’t share
    I’d sit and eat them
    on the stair
    So now you know
    just what I’d do
    I just hope that
    It gets me through

  45. Lucy Hill/aka 'NoneofYourChuffingBusiness' (FB) says:

I’d give it to our two gorgeous girls and their 2 two little cousins (who are like their sisters) to share and play shops with the next time they’re over. It will make a lovely change from fairy tea parties, princess dress up and/or unicorn races…and that’s just me! *blush*

  46. keith mitchell says:

My kids would really enjoy my reminiscing about “when i was a kid” sweetie stories 🙂

  47. Vicky Louise Brett Robinson says:

This looks great! I would love to set up shop & play a game with my kids – I could bribe them to do some household chores & then they can “shop” for some sweets as a reward for their help! I would be happy & have a lot of happy children as a result!

  48. anne brookes says:

I would give it to my nephew who lives up a mountain (really) in Wales, as you can imagine he doesn’t get out much so he needs all the toys and imagination that he can get.

  49. paul chesters says:

Well……….apart from the obvious in my case, scoff the lot with a well contented smile on my face, I would think of my ever expanding girth and take them across the road to the neighbours and let Emily and her friends have them to eat and play with, as there is nothing better than the sound of children playing, and combined with such an old fashioned game as ‘Shop’, what could be better? At least tthey haven’t started playing ebay yet

  50. Janine Atkin says:

Didnt I read somewhere that when you own a sweet shop you have to taste everything before it can go on sale? it was in the paper, im sure of it so it must be true.
so id have a sweet shop for the kids, but before they are allowed to buy id have to taste to make sure they’re not poisonous or anything. Their safety comes first!

  51. tracey gibbons says:

my littlest boy has a toy kitchen and shopping stuff, so we would have to play sweetie shops although im not sure he would be willing to sell any of the products x

  52. Hayley Todd says:

I would give this to my little girl who absolutely loves playing shop at the moment and she is also a little sweetie lover! She would have hours of fun playing with this lovely little set!

  53. Mel K says:

Although I would be full of good intentions to give it to one of the younger members of my family, I sense I would probably keep it and snaffle it all!

No-one will buy me an easter egg (to grown up) so this would be my little treat xx

  54. Beth Whelan says:

I would keep this for me. I would set up a sweet shop in my bottom drawer by my bed and only I would be the customer! I wouldn’t share it with anyone… all mine! Muahahaha (A very big Sweet-a-holic!)

  55. Stephanie Mamo says:

I’d set up shop and have my son and his friends as my customers, they can have free sweets in exchange for cups of tea and biccies! well, you don’t get something for nothing, not even when you’re 11!

  56. sue willshee says:

I’d give it to my 4 year old Piper because she loves to play at shopping and this would keep her happy for days!

  57. Sally Hatton says:

I would set up shop at the end of the drive and make a roaring trade with the local children. It would certainly give the local ice cream mafia (sorry ice cream van) some competition.

  58. Karen Scott says:

I would give it to my brother as part of his wedding gift, they both love sweets and this would be a really original gift.

I may take just my favourite sweet out of it to keep for myself, then give the rest to my niece to have some fun with.

  61. Mark Whittaker says:

just want a whizz back to my childhood…reach an agr thats as close to 60 as it is to 30 on weds !

  62. Lindy Hine says:

I’d get my sister round and we could play shops and reminisce about all the sweeties of our youth. Come on Chewbz, make 2 old ladies very happy!

  63. justine Powell says:

I would set up the sweet shop, then put a closed sign on the door and scoff all the sweets myself:) At least I’m being honest LOL
